The author can best be described as a 'Vintage Claret'. Having seen his first Burnley game in the glorious 1959/60 English 1st Division Championship winning season, he has been a convert from that date. The intervening years have seen his beloved Clarets ride a veritable roller-coaster. From those heady days of the early 1960's, to the despair and almost ultimate extinction in 1987, he has seen the lot. In that time he has watched his heroes win all four major divisions of English football, a feat that not many supporters of other teams can claim. His working life, over 35 years of which were spent in the beleagured Lancashire Textile Industry, has often mirrored the fortunes of his home town club. The many 'lows' and occasional 'highs' have given him the resilience to withstand anything a football season can throw at him. True Football people, that is the fans who support their clubs through thick and thin, have been touched by a life consuming passion. Anybody who has not experienced this has missed out on a journey of powerful emotions that can both delight and dismay. How fortunate is the author to have been able to be a part of all this. Now retired, the author enjoys walking the hills and dales of his native Lancashire and neighboring Yorkshire. The camaraderie enjoyed whilst walking our magnificent countryside with new found friends is truly one of life's simple pleasures. What spare time left to the author is spent writing the diaries of Burnley FC's Premier League adventures. Long may they continue!
