Lillian Barden, born in the late 30's in the Bronx, was the middle child of three girls. Her parents divorced when she was seven and her refuge from poverty and loss was her intellect and love of learning. She pursued her education, mostly at night for many years: a BA in English, an MBA post-divorce, a PhD in business changing careers over time from homemaker to finance to university teaching. After her first retirement in 2000 she earned an MFA. Lillian left New York for Southern California when she married in 1959, divorced in 1978, and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1983, teaching until finally retiring for the second time in 2016 as Professor Emerita in the School of Business at Notre Dame de Namur University. Along the way she wrote in a number of formats to make sense of her life. She has three very interesting and talented children and is in the process of writing her memoirs. Or not!
