Fun Gets the Job Done: Building Teams, Driving Growth, and Leading with Vision and Purpose (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798254750994)

In Fun Gets the Job Done, clinical research leader Robert Call pulls back the curtain on what it really takes to build a business that lasts: trust, clarity, consistency, and a work culture people want to be part of. Through honest stories, sharp insights, and plenty of humor from the front lines of clinical research, Call shows why fun is not an afterthought in leadership. It is the engine that keeps teams resilient, connected, and ready for the hard days.

Across vaccine trial marathons, rapid-growth seasons, hiring mishaps, and the messy middle of scaling, he reveals how co-leading with his partner Annette Bennett transformed not only the business but the way their team worked, communicated, and supported one another. The result was one of the country's busiest research sites, built through trust rather than pressure and through people rather than perfection.

This book delivers practical lessons on hiring, communication, team alignment, decision-making, and co-leadership. It also offers a candid look at what happens when leaders trust their people, share responsibility, and bring laughter into demanding environments.

With humor, honesty, and a clear eye for what truly matters, Robert illustrates how fun builds resilience, how clarity cuts through confusion, and how kindness paired with firmness creates leaders who inspire instead of intimidate. His stories reveal what it takes to lead with integrity and create a place where people feel proud of the work they do.
