Glass Current (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798242354777)

One mistake froze a world. One secret keeps him under the ice.

Barnaby is a narwhal. He's spent centuries navigating the bone-chilling waters of the Arctic, hunting squid and avoiding the crushing weight of the pack ice. But Barnaby has a secret that makes his tusk hum with a restless, blue light: He wasn't always a creature of the deep.

Once, he was a Guardian of the Whispering Woods. He was a unicorn of the Stampede, tasked with keeping the world's waters pure. But when he and his friends chose laziness over duty-turning a wild river into "perfect," unmoving glass to avoid their chores-Mother Nature didn't just get angry. She got even.

Now, Barnaby is a "Sea-Stallion," cursed to live in the element he refused to protect. He has no legs, no mane, and no voice. But he still has the Ghost-Itch-the phantom feeling of hooves on grass.

When a 12-year-old girl named Maya discovers a shard of enchanted glass on a distant shore, the "Thaw" begins. Barnaby must embark on a 3,000-mile journey south, dodging a vengeful sea serpent and the crushing guilt of his past. He has one chance to break the glass and restore the river.

But to become a unicorn again, Barnaby must decide: Is he saving the world to regain his own beauty, or to finally do the right thing?
