The village doctor is the wealthiest, and also the most important man. If the village were a puppet show, he would be the puppet-master. Everything centres round authority.

Dula, the village's most sought-after bachelor, marries a woman from a village across the river. Everything centres round a clash of cultures.

Pitambar, a Brahmin priest, makes his living from officiating weddings, prayers and pujas, and death ceremonies. Everything centres round finding moneymaking opportunities.

RadhiNani has her ear to the ground, when it comes to these three separate paths. It takes spying on a mysterious visitor to find where the three paths dovetail into one, murky, insidious path.
