Good Scary: A no-nonsense setup guide for creative freelancers (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798385627240)

"A superb book ... there may well be no-nonsense, but there is an abundance of warmth, clarity, honesty and humour" - Andrew Boulton, advertising and copywriting lecturer

"I always say this, but copywriters write the best books... and this is very good" - Vikki Ross, copy chief

Have you been daydreaming about going freelance, but can't figure out where to start? Don't know how much to charge clients? Not sure where to look for work? Can't decide between being a sole trader and setting up a limited company? Lost track of IR35? Confused about what accountants actually do?

...and fed up looking for the answers on complicated websites written by people in suits?

GOOD SCARY covers all that and more, with the boring businessy stuff removed, reworked and reattached. You might be a designer, an artworker, an art director, an animator, an editor, a proofreader, a copywriter, a scriptwriter, a ghostwriter, a coder, a planner, a producer, a developer, a project manager, a strategist, an illustrator, a visualiser, a retoucher, a creative director, or one-half of a creative team. Whatever your profession in the creative industry, if you've been fantasising about being your own boss, but don't know how to get started or what's involved, this is for you. Written by someone who's done exactly what you're thinking about doing. And could have done with something a little bit like this when starting out.

There's no doubt going freelance is scary... but it's good scary.
