Marla was born in San Mateo, CA, and lived in Menlo Park, Oroville, Sacramento and Stockton until moving to Arizona. Her parents divorced when she was ten. In 1980, Marla began her real estate career in Stockton. Her two children, Randy and Stacey, were in college when she separated and moved to Tucson, AZ, to work for Del Webb's Sun City. While Stockton (CA) Board President in 1990, the editor of the Stockton Record asked her if she wanted to write a column about real estate. His only requirement was that the column be good for the public and good for her fellow Realtors. For three years, she wrote a weekly column and thoroughly loved it. When she left Tucson and moved to South Carolina to start a new life, she remained in real estate. Now with six grandchildren and having to alternate holidays with the other grandparents, questions were coming from the grandchildren. The goal of the book is to let children know that even though the parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles may not be together, they are still family. Also, it does not mean that either is a bad person. Two good people are not necessarily always good together. This book is written for all grandparents, stepgrandparents, step-aunts and uncles to help reassure children that once a family, always a family! Marla recently joined the Foothills Writer's Guild. The draft of the book won third place in the Fall competition which also provided motivation to proceed.
