That session was dedicated to the memory of Sara B. Aleshire, one of the leading Greek epigraphists of the twentieth century. She is the author of Creating a Common Polity: Religion, Economy, and Politics in the Making of the Greek Koinon (Berkeley, 2013). Nikolaos Papazarkadas (DPhil Oxford, 2004) is the Nicholas C. Petris Professor of Greek Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
