Grey State: The Network (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798245380292)

Grey is no longer alone.

Six months after the world split into Red and Blue, sixteen-year-old Grey Mercer thought he was the only one who saw reality in shades of grey. Then a message arrives from Maya, another Grey who's been investigating the system longer than he has. She's found something: the routing code STP-4407 isn't random. It's everywhere. And someone built this on purpose.

Grey and Maya connect immediately, forming an alliance that will change everything. Over six months of careful investigation, they discover three other Greys across the country-ShadowRunner in Seattle, a tech-savvy gamer; PhantomByte in Austin, an academic researcher; and VoidEcho in Boston, a people-focused observer. Together, they form a network of five teenagers who see what others cannot: the truth behind the split.

But the system isn't broken. It's working exactly as designed.

As Grey's network investigates, they uncover a conspiracy that reaches back sixty years to a government program called Project PRISM. The split wasn't an accident. It was intentional. The Red and Blue modes were engineered to make people predictable, easier to manipulate. And now someone is using that manipulation to control elections, rig commodity markets, and reshape global politics-making billions in the process.

That someone is Senator Marcus Thorne, a powerful billionaire and public figure who knows Grey exists. Thorne sees what Grey can do: see reality directly, without the Red or Blue filter. No guessing. No approximation. No triangulating between two wrong answers. Just truth. And Thorne wants that power for himself.

When Grey refuses Thorne's offer to become his "eyes," his family becomes a target. The network must race against time to expose Thorne's operation before his next global move triggers catastrophic consequences. But as they dig deeper, following leads from leaked government documents and dark web archives, they discover something that changes everything: there's a cure for the grey condition.

But the cure comes with a deadly price.

Leaked research documents from the 1970s reveal a neurochemical concoction that can restore color vision-but one in eight people will die from it. The lab notes are clear: fatal allergic reactions, psychosis, no way to predict who will survive. The network is split. Grey's family is divided. And Grey must make an impossible choice: release the cure and let people choose, knowing thousands will die? Or keep it secret, protecting lives but condemning the world to permanent division?

As the network works together to expose Thorne's operation, they face escalating danger. Thorne's people are hunting them. The system adapts without its master. And Grey's choice about the cure will determine not just his future, but the future of everyone who sees the world in shades of grey.

Grey State: The Network is the explosive second book in the Grey State trilogy, where personal stakes become global, investigation becomes action, and one teenager's choice will determine the future of a divided world. As Grey's network grows, so do the dangers-and the consequences of seeing truth in a world built on lies.

Perfect for fans of: The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Maze Runner, and thought-provoking dystopian fiction that explores what happens when the people who see clearly must decide whether to share that vision-even if it kills.
