Grid Down (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798250023962)

A Novel by K. C. Fitzgerald

What if being prepared changed everything?

Four fourteen-year-olds decide to do something most adults only talk about: prepare for disaster.

Not one specific event.

Not one specific scenario.

Any disaster.

They spend three months learning how radios work. Storing water. Building communication plans. Practicing skills most people assume they'll never need.

Most people think they're overreacting...

Then something happens.

Grid Down is not a dystopian thriller. It's not survival horror. It's a realistic, character-driven story about competence, friendship, and the quiet confidence that comes from preparation.

When a regional crisis tests their plans, the four friends discover that readiness isn't just about supplies - it's about trust, cooperation, and staying calm when others aren't.

• Serious but hopeful. Grounded but inspiring.
• Perfect for readers 11-15 who enjoy thoughtful middle-grade and early young adult fiction - the kind of stories where kids solve real problems through knowledge, teamwork, and steady thinking.
• Because preparation isn't about fear.

It's about confidence.
