Gummy Bear: The 1st Living Gummy Bear (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798246453735)

When Sam wished for a friend, he didn't expect it to scream "EAT ME!"

Nine-year-old Sam is the invisible middle child in a family of six kids. His parents think he's turning two (again). His siblings are too busy with their own obsessions-fireworks hoarding, robot dolphin novels, candy sculptures, and endless texting-to notice he exists. Only his best friend Tom and the family dog Buddy seem to remember Sam is alive.

So when Sam discovers a mysterious old book in the back of the school library, he decides to make his own friend. With some wire, a lamp, and one small red gummy bear, Sam creates something that shouldn't be possible: a living, talking, completely unreasonable gummy bear who wants only one thing.

To be eaten.

"EAT ME!" Gummy Bear screams. "That's my PURPOSE!"

But Sam didn't bring Gummy Bear to life just to chew him up. He wanted a friend.

What follows is a year of absolute chaos-from a hijacked school bus to a Fourth of July fireworks disaster, from a near-fatal encounter with strawberry acid to an elaborate pie-based revenge plot against the nosiest girl in school. Along the way, Sam must keep Gummy Bear's existence a secret, survive his candy-obsessed little sister's crafting experiments, and dodge scheme after ridiculous scheme as Gummy Bear tries desperately to end up in someone's stomach.

But as the months pass and the schemes pile up, something unexpected happens. Between the disasters and the dreaded Jar of Misery, Sam and Gummy Bear might actually be becoming... friends.

If only Gummy Bear would stop hiding in the birthday cake.

Book One of the Gummy Bear series-a hilarious, heartfelt adventure for readers who love Roald Dahl, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and stories about friendship in the strangest places.
