We go on to learn about each member of the crew, Bosida, Khahari, Darwin, and Adisa and their life experiences which led to ongoing struggles in their romantic lives with women. We read about Maximus' journey last which extends throughout the book. The reader journeys with Maximus as he seeks purpose and a way to make sense of the tragedies that have befallen him in a way that as an adult, he can help children side step his misfortunes. In this he finds his verse to contribute to the well-being of humanity. Main plot points include - When Maximus decides to go from being prey to predator while struggling to maintain some semblance of a moral compass. Themes include man vs. self - man vs. man - man vs. society. Setting = Inner-City - Brooklyn, NY and moves throughout the east coast, mainly, from New Hampshire to Florida with a visit to the mid-west. The over-arching mood is dark and tragic as characters attempt to find ways to laugh in order to keep from crying.
