Relocating to the Soviet Union after World War II, Armenian painter Haroutiun Galentz (1910-67) was influenced by French painters settled in the Levant, including George Michelet and George Cyr. Galentz developed a vivid style characterized by bright colors and emotional depth, which flourished in the cultural "thaw" following Stalin's death.
