Held by God: A Mother's Journey through Grief toward Healing: A devotional for grieving parents seeking God's comfort. (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798295518508)

Held by God is a deeply compassionate and faith-centered devotional created for mothers and parents who are walking through the profound sorrow of grief after the loss of a child. Written from personal experience, this book offers a sacred place for reflection, prayer, and healing-acknowledging the pain of loss while gently guiding grieving hearts toward God's unfailing comfort and presence.

Born from the heartbreak of losing a child, Dr. Johanna James, D.D. shares her journey with honesty, humility, and spiritual depth. Rather than offering easy answers or rushed encouragement, Held by God honors the complexity of grief and the quiet questions that often accompany loss. It recognizes that grief is not a problem to be solved, but a journey to be carried-one that God walks through with us.

Each devotional entry is thoughtfully written to meet readers where they are emotionally and spiritually. Through Scripture-based reflections, heartfelt prayers, and guided journaling prompts, readers are invited to process their pain openly and without judgment. The devotional structure allows space for tears, silence, and remembrance, while also pointing gently toward hope, faith, and restoration over time.

This book emphasizes that grief does not signify weak faith. Instead, it affirms that sorrow and belief can coexist, and that God remains close even in moments of doubt, anger, and despair. Held by God reassures grieving parents that their cries are heard, their pain is seen, and their broken hearts are held with divine tenderness.

Throughout the devotional, themes of obedience, surrender, trust, and spiritual growth are woven naturally into the reflections, encouraging readers to continue walking with God even when the path feels uncertain. The journal prompts provide opportunities for honest expression, helping readers reflect on their emotions, remember their loved ones, and reconnect with God in meaningful ways.

Designed for individual devotion or group use, Held by God is suitable for grief support groups, church ministries, counseling resources, and personal reflection. It offers gentle companionship for those navigating anniversaries, milestones, and the long seasons of mourning that follow loss.

Above all, Held by God is a reminder that grief does not have the final word. God's love remains steady, His presence unwavering, and His healing power active even in the deepest valleys of sorrow. This devotional invites grieving parents to rest in the truth that they-and their pain-are forever held by God.
