Kris Duncan (@poetica_ex_machina) has been writing poetry since she was 12 years old when, in the sixth grade, she was given an assignment to write a haiku. After that, she was hooked. For 30 years she's been honing her craft and establishing a strong and resonating voice. After a failed attempt to publish in her 20s, Kris wrote solely for herself until 2017 when she discovered the rich writing community on Instagram. Between January 2017 to December, she has gained a substantial following and has become known in the community as a mentor for young poets, a beloved Live open mic hostess, and for her artist interview series "7 Questions with Poetica." Kris lives in Indianapolis with her daughter, her Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Tinkerbell, and her two tuxedo cats Gus and Scout.
