Holy Dysfunction

When the Church Mirrors the Culture It Was Meant to Transform

This is a book written about the dysfunction that is taking place within the American evangelical church. It is written by someone with decades of experience in successfully leading business as well, as leading church ministry at the pastoral level.

Once a prophetic voice shaping culture, the Evangelical church has become a reflection of it - more concerned with platforms than pulpits, with performance over presence, with entertainment instead of transformation and lasers over the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Dr. Payne has seen it all: the worship wars, the celebrity-pastor craze, the sports culture takeover, and the slow creep of progressive worldview into the pulpit. With sarcasm, honesty, and a few candid stories from decades in ministry, he pulls back the curtain on a church that's in danger of becoming more circus than sanctuary.

This is not a book for the faint of heart. It's for believers who are tired of the show, hungry for the real thing, and willing to ask the hard question: If Jesus walked into our church today... would He even recognize it?
