Ron Newby was born in 1938, grew up in Pasadena, Monterey, Santa Barbara and now resides in Del Mar. He is a graduate from U.C. Santa Barbara with degrees in Botany and Analytical Biology. He was a researcher for 27 years at The Salk Institute, La Jolla, CA., studying gene regulation; how genes, at the molecular level, are turned on and off in response to environmental factors. His interests are art, science and liberal politics. He is the founder and director of The Bronowski Art&Science Forum, a crucible for conversations between individuals from disparate disciplines: artists and scientists.
