Ava Marie seems to find herself in hot water with every decision she makes. First with her friends, then with her parents. Her punishment is to stay at her aunt's country Bed and Breakfast for the summer, with no cellphone and no contact with her old friends. Angry and heartbroken, she feels like she's been shipped off to another planet.

While out exploring her new surroundings, Ava happens to come across an injured, scared horse. Though the animal is hurt, it won't let Ava Marie help. In panic, the horse runs away from her. With no other option but to follow the animal, Ava realizes she and this horse have something in common. They both seem to find themselves in trouble at every turn.
