Roger C Horton, born 1942, grew up in southern Florida. He was drawn to the water, and sailed the Florida coast, Bahamas in his early teens. He began working off shore on foreign flag, commercial sailing vessels at the age of fifteen, plying mainly the waters of the Caribbean. In Viet Nam, he was a non-commissioned Army Marine Officer. After his discharge in 1970, he returned to the US merchant Marine. Holding an (Unlimited Master of Oceans) license, Captain Horton has made voyages to the worlds ports for fifty years. His passion though, is being at sea under sail, and over the years, he has returned to sail whenever possible. A writer of novels, short stories, poetry, he has also been, for decades, a successful Marine Artist and illustrator. It is obvious to those who have read his work that he is a writer with a wide life experience, that creates a totally captivating world of words. For those readers, the ones who want believable human tales of the sea, and stories of the people whose lives swim within island waters, Horton's novels will leave them smiling, soaked, and salty.
