Hydrocarbon Wells: Plugging and Abandonment (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781647255725)

A hydrocarbon well is a drilled structure used to extract oil and natural gas from underground reservoirs. It involves drilling a borehole, reaching hydrocarbon deposits, and bringing them to the surface for energy production. These wells are essential for obtaining fossil fuels used in various industries and energy generation. Plugging and abandonment of hydrocarbon wells involves safely sealing wells that are no longer productive. This process includes cleaning the wellbore, inserting cement plugs to prevent fluid migration and sealing the casing and wellhead. The plugging and abandonment process is governed by strict regulations to protect the environment and public safety. Properly abandoning wells prevents potential contamination of groundwater and reduces the risk of future leaks or blowouts, ensuring that former hydrocarbon sites are left in a safe and environmentally sound condition. Such selected concepts that redefine hydrocarbon wells have been presented in this book. It presents the complex subject of hydrocarbon wells in the most comprehensible and easy to understand language. It will serve as a valuable source of reference for those interested in this field.
