Hyper-Pagan Christianity: Exploring the New Covenant Truth Opposed to our Church Practices (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798199431705)

IS OUR CHURCH REALLY NEW COVENANT BASED?

• Why does the pastor preach a monologue every Sunday?
• Why do most believers sit passively in pews week after week?
• Why do we import Old Covenant shadows and religious systems that the New Covenant leaves behind?

Not sure? This book makes a bold and unsettling counter-proposal: MOST OF WHAT PRESENT-DAY CHRISTIANS DO IN CHURCH EACH SUNDAY IS NOT ROOTED IN THE NEW TESTAMENT - IT IS A REGRESSION INTO OLD COVENANT SHADOWS AND LATER HUMAN TRADITIONS. With thorough chapter-by-chapter analysis, author Timothy Klaver directly examines Brad Chase's defense of institutional practices in Unpagan Christianity. He holds each claim up against the finished work of Jesus, the better promises of the New Covenant (Hebrews 8), and the radical Gospel of grace.

You will discover why many familiar church practices - the professional pastor, the sermon-centric service, tithing, sacred buildings, clergy-laity distinctions, structured liturgy, and more - often represent Hyper-Pagan Christianity: a hyper-institutionalized form that mixes law and grace, obscures the priesthood of all believers, and distances people from the vibrant, participatory life of the New Testament Ekklesia.

As you reconsider what Jesus and His apostles actually established - a living body where every member functions under His direct headship - you will be challenged to embrace the glorious freedom and better promises of the New Covenant.

It is finished.

Grace is enough.

Jesus is enough.
