He holds a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. In 2011 he completed a certificate program in spiritual direction from Selah, a ministry of Leadership Transformations, Inc.

Stan particularly enjoys interacting with people about their attraction to stories. He is keenly interested in books by C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Charles Dickens, and Victor Hugo. His favorite films include Finding Neverland, The Green Mile, and Les Misérables. Stan takes pleasure in exploring how popular stories help people of all ages navigate life's challenges. He has also written creatively about this particular interest.
