I Knew Sister Kenny: A Story of a Great Lady and Little People (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781258004996)

""I Knew Sister Kenny: A Story Of A Great Lady And Little People"" is a biography written by Herbert Jerome Levine. The book tells the story of Sister Elizabeth Kenny, an Australian nurse who revolutionized the treatment of polio in the early 20th century. Sister Kenny's approach to treating polio was controversial at the time, as it involved using hot packs and massage rather than immobilization. Despite facing opposition from the medical establishment, Sister Kenny's methods proved to be highly effective and saved countless lives. The book also explores Sister Kenny's personal life, including her upbringing in rural Australia and her struggles to gain acceptance for her methods. Levine paints a vivid picture of the social and political climate of the time, and the challenges faced by women in the medical profession. ""I Knew Sister Kenny"" is a tribute to a remarkable woman who defied convention and changed the course of medical history. It is also a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of standing up for what you believe in.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
