G R Freeman, or Gerry as he prefers to be called, has been interested in the Viking period all his life. He worked on writing a novel, off and on, for a very long time indeed, but always wanted the finished work to have meaning and worth, which is a common goal for budding authors and it proved as elusive for him as it has been for so many others. He eventually came up with a story and characters that he felt comfortable with and "Ibern" was born. Fortunately, there is ample scope in the general scenario, so the sequel(s) should not take anywhere near as long. Gerry is married to Hazel, they have four children and seven grandkids, at the last count.
