Ice Mother: Book One of the Glacier Trilogy (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798195684327)

She came home to bury a story. She'll leave burying her past.
Six months pregnant. Four years sober. One last assignment before maternity leave.
When Reykjavík journalist Hekla Jónsdóttir is tipped off about a child's body emerging from a melting glacier in southeast Iceland, she doesn't expect a story. She expects a tragedy - a forgotten infant, an old grave, a paragraph on page nine.
Then a second body appears. And a third.
All infants. All buried in different sectors of the same retreating ice. All of them the children of mothers the village had quietly written off - addicts, alcoholics, women alone.
The deeper Hekla digs, the more she suspects the killer isn't dead. The killer is seventy-one years old, drinks tea with the local pastor, and has just invited her in for a chat.
Then the note arrives, slipped under her hotel room door.
You will not give birth to that child.
As a winter storm closes the roads and her contractions begin six weeks too early, Hekla discovers the truth her father has been hiding for thirty-six years: her mother didn't die in childbirth. She's been alive - and silent - the entire time.
And the woman who delivered Hekla into the world is the only midwife close enough to deliver her daughter.
If she lets her.
ICE MOTHER is a relentless, atmospheric Nordic thriller about the lies women are told about themselves, the past that won't stay buried, and one mother's desperate attempt to protect her child from the woman who took everything from her.
Perfect for fans of THE SILENT PATIENT, THE FAMILY UPSTAIRS, and the chilling Icelandic noir of Yrsa Sigurðardóttir.
BOOK ONE OF THE GLACIER TRILOGY. A killer caught. A sister found. A truth still frozen in the ice.
