Arley Levno was born in Hillsboro, Oregon, raised in Sidney, Montana, graduated from high school at Menlo School in Menlo Park, California, attended the University of Montana at Missoula, taught in the secondary schools for 4 years in the states of Montana and Washington, lived 2 years in Paris, France as an "assistant d'anglais", teaching at Lyc馥 Pasteur and Lyc馥 Rodin and studying French at the Sorbonne, received an MA and a PH.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park and taught French language, literature and culture at Towson University, Towson, Maryland where he is now Professor Emeritus. His publications are "Rencontres culturelles" (1984), "Close Encounters of the French Kind" (2013) and "Illuminations on the Fog of Life" (2016). He lives in Columbia, Maryland with his wife Dr. Patricia Gobbett-Levno. Their daughter Christine and son-in-law Billy live in Baltimore.
