I`m Coming for You: The jagged, ancient symbol carved into Helen's window frame, later branded onto her skin (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798258756114)

**Summary of "I'm Coming For You"**

Helen Stone came to the Appalachian wilderness to bury her past. The wilderness buried her instead.

A retired military operative, Helen built her sanctuary believing she had outrun her ghosts. She was wrong. The forest was waiting.

When unnatural fog rolls through Riverbend Mill Hamlet, it brings the Pale Man: gaunt as famine, skin like dried leaves over bone, eyes twin furnaces of crimson malice that burn straight through the skull. He does not chase. He whispers. And he knows your name.

What follows is not a hunt but a dismantling. The Pale Man attacks reality itself. He moves her mug while she sleeps. He carves an ancient symbol into her window frame, then brands that mark into her skin so it glows with sickly inner light. He invades her most guarded memory - the jungle ambush, the fallen squad, the moment she chose survival over solidarity - and twists it into *invitation*. He was there in that jungle, watching, feeding, waiting. He has always been there.

The forest becomes her enemy. Paths vanish. Trees shift. Roots trip her, branches whip her face, fog presses like a cold, damp tongue. Her dog Ranger cowers beneath the table. Crows with red-rimmed eyes watch without flying. Deer stand frozen, their gazes burning with crimson light.

Helen fights with everything she has. False trails. Sharpened stakes. Desperate flight. It is all theatre. The Pale Man anticipates every move, plants her own bootlace ahead as if to say: *I am already where you are going.* He offers no choice - surrender and become, or resist and suffer forever - knowing her celebrated strength will deliver her more completely than weakness ever could.

At the obsidian Binding Stone, deep where the earth hums with malevolent hunger, Helen's hand rises against her will. Her fingers touch cold surface. The shock is *invasion* - centuries of agony, countless souls, an ancient consciousness overwriting her own. She sees her reflection: not her face but his, grey and cracked and grinning. She coughs black mist smelling of graveyards. Her eyes ignite from grey to crimson. The transformation is *complete*.

Helen Stone does not die. She is *unmade* - identity dissolved, will bent to hunger she now feels as her own. The Pale Man merges into her, and what rises is neither Helen nor him but something worse: the Pale Woman. Ash-skinned, crimson-eyed, fingers elongated to bone-like claws. The forest bows. The fog obeys. The children - red-eyed creatures of mist and rot - awaken and call her Queen.

Her first hunt is appetite itself. A hiker named Mark finds the path gone, his name whispered from everywhere and nowhere. She toys with him as she was toyed with, guiding him with roots and shadows until he falls, ankle twisted, hope shattered. She descends with unhurried grace, her hand closing around his throat not with violence but with *consumption*, drawing his fear, his life, his essence into the void where Helen Stone once lived.

The final image is the promise. The Pale Woman stands at Caleb Vance's store and carves into weathered wood with a claw burning faintly red: *I'M COMING FOR YOU*. Not a threat. Fact. The fog creeps toward town. Dogs whine behind locked doors. The sensitive shiver at windows, never knowing the ancient thing wearing their neighbour's face listens from the tree line.

And then her shadow - impossibly long, impossibly vast - stretches beyond the porch, beyond the hamlet, beyond the story itself, reaching toward the reader in the quiet dark with a whisper of pure, patient, ancient malice:

*You're next.*
