In the Caverns: The Darkness of Grief & The Dawn of Life Change (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798669072971)

In the Caverns is about grief and change. While the pain that accompanies both can be a wise teacher, many will not listen. The pressure to get "back to normal" often short-circuits the process, and people often miss the opportunity to learn, grow, and change. In 2015, David Achata (MDiv, PCC) was one of the forty-three million caregivers in North America. He provides a rare, transparent, and detailed look into his life as caregiver to his mother and the struggles that follow the loss of a parent. He invites us to think of grief not as an enemy to overcome, but as a friend sent to guide us into a new phase of life.

What Others Are Saying: "Your own journey will undoubtedly look different from David's, but I have every expectation that connecting to his experience will give you the opportunity to broaden your beliefs about what a grief journey could look like." -Lisa K. Baker, PHD

"This book is so heartbreakingly beautiful. Working with hospice, we see the types of things David is writing about everyday and it always seems to hit the caregivers the hardest. David has poured his heart and soul into this book. It is my hope that many people will read this and know that they aren't alone. David's memoir covering a very difficult season of time is going to help so many who are struggling." Dr. Tyler McCurry, DO
