Integrated Identity: The Architecture of the SELF
Mental Reengineering System for the Integration of the Dissident Self
A Work of Psychology for the Awakening of the LGBTIQ+ Community

If you are part of the LGBTIQ+ community and have ever felt that you had to hide a part of yourself in order to be accepted, this book is for you.

Perhaps you learned to measure your gestures, monitor your voice, conceal your desire, tone down your presence, or even adapt your entire way of being in order to avoid rejection, mockery, judgment, violence, or the loss of belonging. Perhaps that entire process allowed you to function, move forward, and achieve certain goals. You may smile and appear as though everything is fine, but inside, you know there is a painful distance between what you show and who you truly are.

The good news is that this book was written with you in mind.

For years, many LGBTIQ+ people have had to construct a protective identity: a way of speaking, acting, remaining silent, pleasing others, and even camouflaging themselves in order to preserve affection, safety, and a place within environments where difference could feel dangerous. That strategy may have helped you survive. But you know that when protection becomes permanent, it can also become a prison.

What part of your current personality is truly yours, and what part was built in order to be accepted or tolerated by others?

Integrated Identity: The Architecture of the Self is an Internal Reengineering System designed for those who want to stop living through masks imposed by fear, leave behind existence inside the closet, and recover authority over themselves and their own inner life.

Through a technical, clinical, and profoundly human perspective on the LGBTIQ+ experience, Ylich Tarazona guides you through a process of understanding, disidentification, and reconstruction. This is not about becoming another person. It is about ceasing to organize your life around fear and beginning to inhabit a more conscious, authentic, and coherent identity, rooted in your truth.

This book will help you work through the following levels:

Dismantling the Survival Identity: You will identify the forms of camouflage, self-censorship, forced adaptation, and silencing that you learned in order to protect yourself, but that today may be limiting your life.
Understanding the conflict between authenticity and invisibility: You will recognize the tension between your deep need to live from your truth and the social, familial, or cultural pressure that once pushed you to hide essential parts of your true self.
Resolving internal fragmentation: Once you recognize your agency in this process, the next step will be learning to integrate what you think, feel, desire, choose, and express under a more conscious, honest, and self-respecting direction aligned with your authenticity.
Building an Integrated Identity: You will learn to develop boundaries, values, internal criteria, and decisions capable of sustaining your dignity in the face of judgment, rejection, external pressure, and the need for approval.
Consolidating Visible Coherence: You will transform your internal understanding into concrete presence, so that your way of being in the world reflects, with greater fidelity, the truth you recognize within yourself.

Drawing from five areas of work - Behavioral, Humanistic, Gestalt, Clinical, and Liberation-based - YLICH TARAZONA develops an intense, precise, and necessary framework for those who are not seeking to correct themselves, but to understand themselves, reconstruct themselves, and inhabit their identity with dignity.
