Iowa City's Worst Landlords: Be Careful Signing a Lease in Any College Town (2026-2027 Edition) (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798242611467)

Iowa City's Worst Landlords is a guide for any college college student or their parents to read before signing a lease in any college town.

C. David Patterson uses the mostly crooked town of Iowa City as an example of what to look out for with corrupt landlords, bogus leases, and theft of deposits.

Patterson uses past small claims lawsuits, a previous class action lawsuit, online reviews, and a personal example from a friend's daughter.

Learn how to use LLMs such as ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, and others to analyze apartment leases for omissions.

Discover the ways that corrupt landlords rip off good tenants by stealing deposits at the end of leases.

Figure out who really runs an apartment rental company by researching the business entity filings, the lawyers involved, and past negative stories in the media.

Patterson discourages renters from filing lawsuits against bad landlords. Find out why lawsuits are the wrong way to go for most renters.

You can't run to the corrupt media, politicians, student legal services, tenants unions, human rights commissions, or any kind of apartment association.

Read the lawsuit about how awful a bad landlord and lawyer can behave towards a female tenant who unwittingly rented a roach-filled apartment.

Be careful when signing a lease. Know who you're dealing with and what you're signing.
