Tomás Mac Síomóin is an Irish Gaelic novelist, storyteller, poet, and journalist. A Cornell University, New York, doctoral graduate, he worked as a biologist and university lecturer in the Netherlands, USA, and Ireland. He was editor of the Irish language newspaper Anois and, later, of the literary and current affairs magazine, Comhar. His collection of short stories Cinn Lae Seangáin (The Diary of an Ant) won the short story collection award in the Oireachtas 2005 competition; in 2006 his novel An Tionscadal (The Project) won the main Oireachtas literary award. His short story Music in the Bone was included in The Dalkey Archive Press' Best European Fiction 2013. He has lived and worked in Catalonia since 1998.
