Pickens County was created in 1826 from Pendleton District. It is located in the nortwestern portion of the sate which saw large numbers of settlers heading west. But it is more so an accumlation of facts and traditional stories the author has collected over a 25 year time frame. This type of county history book can help one develop ideas or paths to those missing ancestors by showing the customs and traditions of the local residents.
