Japanese The Logic of Modules: Grammar and Language Architecture (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798190161472)

Learning Japanese does not simply mean acquiring a new vocabulary, but restructuring the very way in which thoughts are organised and 'assembled'. It is a shift from a linear logic, typical of Indo-European languages, to a modular, layered logic, in which meaning emerges progressively. This guide will take us step by step, starting from the historical foundations right through to the construction of complex sentences, providing not only rules but also interpretative tools to understand the mindset behind the language.

Japanese is a language that scholars classify as 'isolated' or, more cautiously, as belonging to a family that remains a matter of debate.
There are no certain and universally accepted links with other languages. Despite China's enormous cultural influence, Japanese does not derive from Chinese, from which it has simply adopted the writing system. Some linguists have hypothesised structural affinities with the Altaic languages (Turkish, Mongolian), particularly regarding its agglutinative grammar, whilst others have noted phonetic similarities with the Austronesian languages. However, none of these theories has been definitively proven. This makes Japanese a unique case in the global linguistic landscape.
