Prouvé's first postwar temporary house designed for his own family, remarkable for its use of the axial portal frame pavilion
While on vacation in 1946, Jean Prouvé (1901-84) began looking for a site to build a temporary 8 x 8 house that could accommodate his large family. The Carnac Demountable House would go on to become an important part of the architect and designer's modular canon.
