Evelyn Tiffany-Castiglioni plays accordion with the Texas-based contra dance band "Jalapeño Honey," which performs in Central Texas and arranges and composes the band's music. She studied concert accordion and music theory with her father, Robert S. Tiffany, Jr., who was trained by Frank Gavianni, Sr. Evelyn also studied classical pedal harp with Eastman alumnae Gayel Panke Gibson at the University of Texas at El Paso and Laurie Buchanan at the University of Texas at San Antonio, as well as voice with Lori Joachim Fredrics and cello with Prudence McDaniel of the Marian Anderson String Quartet. She has given workshops at the Spanish Peaks Harp Retreat and attended harp workshops with Alison Kinnaird, Ann Heymann, Wendy Stewart, Judith Peacock Cummings, Patsy Seddon, Aine Minoque, Máire Ní Chathasaigh, Alfredo Rolando Ortiz, and Sue Richards, among others. She was named Harper of the Day at the Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games and the Ohio Scottish Games in 2004 and the Stone Mountain Highland Games in 2005. She has published numerous harp arrangements of traditional and original tunes with Afghan Press (Houston, Texas). She served as President of the Scottish Harp Society of America from 2004-2006 and compiled and edited the music anthology Scottish Harp Celebration for the Scottish Harp Society of America in 2008. She has published 2 large collections of her arrangements for mandolin trio, Evelyn's Big Book for Mandolins for the Year 2015 and Evelyn's Big Book for Mandolins for the Year 2017, both available from amazon.com. She has also published many accordion transcriptions and arrangements with www.musicforaccordion.com. Evelyn received a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Texas-El Paso and a Ph.D. in Human Genetics and Cell Biology from the University of Texas Medical BranchGalveston and is a professor of neuroscience at Texas A&M University.
