Jesus in Plain Sight: Recovering the Jesus Before the Creeds Through the Gospel of Thomas (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781965646878)

What if the Jesus we've been taught to believe in isn't the whole story?

For nearly two thousand years, Christianity has proclaimed a powerful vision of Jesus-shaped by creeds, councils, and centuries of theology. But beneath these layers lies a more immediate, transformative question: Who was Jesus before doctrine defined him?

In Jesus in Plain Sight, Harold G. Birkenhead invites readers on a bold and deeply spiritual journey to rediscover the original voice of Jesus-one rooted not in belief systems, but in lived transformation. Drawing on early Christian sources, mystical traditions, and especially the enigmatic Gospel of Thomas, this book uncovers a portrait of Jesus as a teacher of awakening, a guide to inner change, and a revealer of the divine within.

This is not a rejection of faith-but a return to its source.

Through accessible scholarship and contemplative insight, Birkenhead explores:

• How the teachings of Jesus were gradually reshaped into doctrine and creed
• Why the earliest traditions emphasize transformation over belief
• The hidden continuity between Jesus' message and the great Christian mystics
• How the Gospel of Thomas preserves a radically different-and deeply compelling-vision of the Way
• What it means to experience the "Kingdom within" in everyday life

At a time when many are leaving institutional religion but still longing for spiritual depth, Jesus in Plain Sight offers a fresh path forward-one that bridges historical insight with personal awakening.

If you've ever wondered whether there is more to Jesus than what you've been taught...

If you've felt the pull toward a deeper, more authentic spirituality...

If you're ready to move from belief to transformation...

This book is your invitation.

Not to abandon Christianity-but to rediscover it.
