The open literature and this work provide alternative interpretations. Historically churches reject alternative interpretations out of hand. It is argued that the churches refusal to discuss alternative and traditional positions are the result of a religious arrogance that is homophobic. The author is a graduate of Northwestern University where he earned a PhD in mechanical engineering and astronautical sciences. He holds numerous patents and is widely published in scientific journals. He led a team of engineers in the development of advanced spacecraft power systems. His interest in homosexuality issues was spawned by his churches rejection of homosexuals. This led to a historically based study of the churches position. The emphasis is on a logical discussion of those biblical passages that are used to condemn homosexuality.
