Bill McCann, Jr. is an advocate for Kentucky playwrights. He is a playwright, producer, poet, editor, publisher, television host, and teacher. As a founder and the current president of Kentucky Playwrights Workshop, Inc., Mr. McCann began the Kentucky New Play Series and has been its only producer. From 2012 through 2014 he served on the board of the Kentucky Theatre Association as Contest Coordinator of the Roots of the Bluegrass New Play Contest. Currently, Mr. McCann is host of the internet television program, "Kentucky Plays Today." He interviews Kentucky playwrights about their latest works, theatre directors, and people affiliated with theatres that are producing the new works of our playwrights. He is also a contributing writer for KentuckyForward. He is plays editor for Snapdragon: A Journal of Creativity. Finally, Mr. McCann is a Playwright Mentor for the Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning, Lexington. He is a member of Actors & Playwrights Collaborative, as well as of the Dramatist Guild of America. Holding an MEd from the University of Virginia and an MA in theatre from the University of Kentucky, Mr. McCann is adjunct faculty at Bluegrass Community & Technical College, Lexington, where he teaches developmental English courses. He and Jeanine Grant Lister live at Roxford near Corinth, in northwestern Harrison County, Kentucky with (currently) three cats and Halligan the Wonder Dog.
