xDario Toncich was born in Melbourne Australia in 1960 and graduated, with honors in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, from the University of Melbourne in 1983. He subsequently went on to complete his Master of Engineering (by Research) in 1990 and PhD in 1995, specializing in control and automation with emphasis on simulation and feedback signal analysis. Dario Toncich has had extensive professional experience in industry and academia and has held various senior academic positions, including Deputy Director and head of advanced studies in his university's Industrial Research Institute, as well as being the chair of its research committee. He has supervised 22 Doctoral and Master's research candidates through to successful completion as principal supervisor, and has written numerous research papers and five text books. Dario Toncich has also acted as the research performance analyst for a major university, and advises on university performance and assessment. His thoughts on universities and research have been published in various national reviews and cited in general and academic print media.
