Knox Preparatory Academy: Freshman Year (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798835809387)

There's a secret. Don't tell anyone, okay? Magic exists, and every human has powers. Long ago, a curse ended magic as we know it, making everyone dormant until their awakening. He linked the curse to five royal families whose lineage has been around since the existence of time. One of which is the Sequoyah family, the weakest line. There are plenty out there that want to break the curse and awaken the human race.

Dakota Sequoyah is no stranger to pain as he buries his grandfather and sister in the same month. Unaware that he is the last Sequoyah, the 14-year-old and his friends wander into the Great Smoky Mountains. After being led to a cave, they find a natural well that awakens them. Professor Talia recruits them to attend Knox Preparatory Academy, where they will learn how to use their powers to advance their careers in the dormant world. When Dakota finds out about the murder of his sister and grandfather, he and his friends fight back to secure the Sequoyah line.
