Kotygoroshko: A Bilingual Ukrainian-English Folk Tale for Children with Full-Color Illustrations (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798349491979)

Ukraine's most beloved folk tale, told in English and Ukrainian on facing pages, with original full-color illustrations on every spread.

Kotygoroshko is an extraordinary boy born from a pea, blessed with immense strength. When his six brothers vanish after confronting a fearsome dragon, he does not hesitate: he sets out on an epic quest to bring them home. Along the way he gathers loyal companions with incredible powers, matches wits with a mysterious old man whose beard has no end, and descends into an underground kingdom of gold, danger, and a captive princess. It is a story of family, loyalty, and a small hero who refuses to give up.

Kotygoroshko (Котигорошко) is one of the most cherished stories in Ukrainian oral tradition, passed down through generations as part of the country's cultural heritage. Like Japan's Momotarō, the hero born from a peach, Kotygoroshko is born from magic and proves that courage and kindness triumph over brute force - a universal Slavic folk tale with deep Eastern European roots.

The adventure unfolds across three chapters: Kotygoroshko and the Dragon, Kotygoroshko and His Companions, and Kotygoroshko in the Underground Kingdom.

Designed for bilingual families and classrooms. Each spread places the Ukrainian text on the left and the English text on the right, so children can follow the same story in both languages side by side. It is a natural fit for:

Inside the book: facing-page Ukrainian-English text, original full-color art on every page, simple vocabulary suited to early and developing readers, and a complete traditional narrative in three chapters.
