Theseus is trapped in a labyrinth of passion with Halina, one of the sexiest sirens on the planet. Despite the great sex, Theseus engages in a desperate struggle to find a way out into spiritual freedom, into liberating his soul from his mortal body and into eternal life. Halina, a former Polish Solidarity activist, who recently settled in Southern California, wants Theseus to take her back to her beloved motherland, Poland, in spite of its shattered economy and political tyranny. The two exhaust themselves struggling, and hit an impasse after Halina has to be hospitalized for stress. At this point, Ariadne hands Theseus a thread that could lead him out of the labyrinth, if he will take it. The novel takes a spiritual awakening in India, back to America, where the aspirant struggles with, and attempts to triumph over, his sexual and spiritual issues. A very realistic and credible depiction that will keep readers glued to the text well past their bedtime. Rarely, if ever, has the struggle between the pleasures of the flesh and the soul wrestling to free itself from its mortal body been so graphically and arrestingly portrayed. Variously sexy, iconoclastic and spiritual, the novel fights to the finish, embracing the pain, poignancy and passion of life itself. A must read for twelve-step counselors, clergy and people trapped in self-destructive and compulsive 'love' relationships who want to find a way out and get a better understanding of the relative merits of twelve-step and spiritual methodologies. For a mature audience.

William Parmenter M.A. and Ph.D. went to India six times on pilgrimage and for cultural studies. He was a Fulbright Scholar to India in 1986 and has been involved in Vedanta spiritual practices and meditation since 1971. His first trip to India was in 1970 when he traveled from Germany on the Asian highway 'hippy trail' through Istanbul on an overland journey to the East, through Tehran, Kabul, and Lahore, charting a circle tour through India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Since his spiritual awakening on the 1970 tour, his life has not been the same. He was involved in Al-Anon and Adult Children of Alcoholics twelve-step programs for almost three decades. Parmenter is a retired journalist, journalism professor, English teacher, and world traveler. He is the author of On the Road to Tierra del Fuego, Hitchhiker Diaries, (2014), for sale on Amazon.com. Parmenter takes 'on the road' out of America and through Meso-America and South America to the tip of the continent and back to southern California. Inspired by his youthful admiration of Jack Kerouac, Parmenter's travel narrative is an extraordinary coming-of-age experience. An underfunded but overachieving adventurero managed with guts and gusto to somehow weather one unpredictable episode after another. Through Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, the Andes, the Amazon, to the Pampas on a grand hitchhiking tour, he made many friends, and learned about cultures. Forged in a harsh crucible of living by his wits, he rapidly grew in savvy, street smarts strength of character.
