"Eck has a talent for highlighting the quiet moments where life truly happens-the befores and the afters-which she weaves into the narrative with precision. Our Verdict: GET IT" -Kirkus Reviews (Recommended Review)

When Merritt Hamilton, the daughter of a rigid and sickly, small-town southern gentlewoman, meets mystical Ames Davis, the daughter of their new, sage-like housekeeper, the two set off on a lifelong passage through upended expectations and familial responsibility, tragedy and loss, spiritual stirring and shared purpose.

From the loamy Mississippi Delta to the astounding beauty of the San Gabriel Mountains of California - Merritt and Ames, each holding a key to the other's fullness, are bound together, their hearts intertwining like the roots of neighboring trees. But they will have to break conventions, understand forgiveness, and ultimately, connect to their deepest humanness as well as their eternal spirits in order to survive the tests of their quest. Must they yield to the mission that has chosen them? Can the heart soar once it's broken?

Land Sister Sky is a heroine's journey - from devastation and collapse to self-understanding and purpose - set to the music of soul sisterhood and the healing power of nature.
