Born Manchester, UK, 1962. Educated Manchester Grammar School and Nottingham University (LLB Hons.). Trained and practised as a high-street solicitor before leaving for the Netherlands in 1996 to study for eighteen months at the Dutch Studies Department of Leiden University. What was intended as a sabbatical has turned out to be a permanent change of life and occupation. Currently living in Antwerp, Belgium, and working self-employed as a legal translator and copywriter.
