Let's Start Over: A Memoir and Guide for Service Dog Owner-Trainers with Disabilities (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798177461809)

In 2010, Brenda Renou searched for months for an organization that trained service dogs for breathing disabilities. She found none. So she decided to train one herself, with no roadmap and no one to show her the way.

This book is what she wishes had existed back then.

Part memoir, part practical guide, Let's Start Over follows Brenda's journey from fifteen medications and twice-weekly injections to a life made possible by the dogs she trained herself. Inside, she shares the framework she built so no other owner-trainer has to figure it all out alone: what burnout actually looks like, why your dog falls apart in public, how to set goals small enough to survive your worst day, how to understand your rights and use them with confidence, and what to do when the whole thing feels like more than you can carry.

This is not a book written from the finish line. Brenda is training her third service dog right now, still in the middle of it, writing from exactly where her readers are.

A memoir and practical guide for people training their own service dogs.
