Letter From the Dark (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781729655689)

A rainy morning jog, a van that waits in the dark, a hunter who never misses.Rita Ammons laces up before dawn and disappears on a quiet Saturday. The man behind her has planned every step, the route past the school, the chemical cloth in his hand, the blanket in his van, even the way the interior lights will never turn on. He calls himself a hunter. In public, he is polite, successful, and forgettable. In private, he is meticulous, patient, thrilled by the chase, and devoted only to the dog at his side.

Beneath his flawless home, he has built a stage. One-way mirrors. Cameras set into the trim like nail holes. Bright lights that scorch the eyes. Noise that claws at the mind. Food arrives behind glass, a plate that moves only when the captive yields. Rita will not. She hums to drown the sound, she studies the room, she waits for one mistake, and when it comes, she runs.

Back in Knoxville, Cary Anne Warren realizes her friend is missing. Rita's shoes are gone, her purse and car remain; the rain fell hard that morning. Detectives Francine Marlowe and Joreski follow the thin trail, while suspicion leans toward Rita's boyfriend, a man with a temper and no alibi anyone trusts. The clock keeps its own cruel time.

The hunter watches, adjusts, escalates, and tightens every screw he has set in secret. Offshore accounts, planted emails, a life built to confuse and control. He believes every woman can be broken. Rita believes otherwise.

Letter from the Dark is a taut, unsettling mystery thriller book about obsession, control, and the stubborn courage that survives inside a locked room. It will grip fans of psychological mystery thriller books and anyone who has looked over their shoulder on a lonely stretch of road.
