For many years, Barbara Dolan-Wilkinson worked at the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park where she found joy in leading children on nature hikes. She loved to watch their eyes sparkle as she taught them about the magic of the redwoods through her story, Lift Up the Sky! / Levanten el Cielo! Inspired by a Snohomish story she once heard at a storytelling festival, Dolan-Wilkinson crafted her tale in the tradition of all great oral narratives. In line with many other children's books published through The Press at Cal Poly Humboldt, Lift up the Sky! / Levanten el Cielo! is a bilingual publication. The Spanish translation has been caringly crafted by Judy Dolan and Esteban Guevara.
