Jan Hawkins has 30 years experience in the fields of Special Needs and Psychology alongside practising as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist, group worker, supervisor and freelance trainer. All of Jan's activities are grounded in the Person-Centred Approach, which she passionately feels offers the most fertile possibilities for relationship and development. Jan has published articles in counselling and psychotherapy journals and contributed chapters to a number of books. Her book 'Voices of the Voiceless: Person-Centred Approaches and People with Learning Difficulties' was published by PCCS books in 2002. The current book 'Listening to Their Voices: The Person-Centred Approach to Autistic Spectrum Disorder' (2017) focuses on the lives and experiences of individuals who live with the complexities of ASD, their families and carers. She has three children, the oldest of whom has intractable epilepsy, autism, diabetes and other complex needs. For the past 17 years Jan has also been leading a choir which welcomes all comers - encouraging people to find their own voice is a thread which runs through all of Jan's work, and other activities.
