The Author: Ronald J. Quirk is Professor of Modern Languages at Quinnipiac College, Hamden, Connecticut. He received his B.A. from Trinity College, Hartford, CT and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Brown University, Providence, RI. He has published studies on Cervantes, Valle-Inclán, Romance linguistics, and Spanish literature of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, including Serafin Estébanez Calderón: Bajo la Corteza de su Obra (Peter Lang, 1992).
