Mad Love: Chasing America, Losing Home (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798185082775)

What happens when a dream becomes more important than reality?

Talia is a Kenyan wife and mother who feels trapped in an ordinary life. When she meets Harry, a divorced Kenyan-American man on social media, she is drawn into a world of promises, attention, and dreams of a better future. Harry paints a picture of life in America filled with opportunity, freedom, and the possibility of citizenship.

Slowly, Talia begins to see her marriage through Harry's eyes. She leaves her husband, moves out with her children, and starts building a new life. Eventually, she secures a visitor visa and travels to the United States, leaving her children behind with her parents. She believes that marrying Harry will open the door to citizenship and a brighter future for her family. But the reality she finds is far different from the dream she pursued.

Harry is drowning in debt, burdened by child support obligations, damaged credit, DUI-related problems, and a history that blocks meaningful employment and housing opportunities. As the years pass, Talia becomes the breadwinner while waiting for promises that never become reality. Hoping to remain in America long enough for things to improve, she files for asylum and continues chasing a future that seems forever out of reach.

As one year becomes four, depression, loneliness, and regret begin taking their toll. Separated from her children and haunted by the choices she has made, Talia is forced to confront a painful question: Was she ever in love with Harry, or was she in love with a dream?

Mad Love; Chasing America, Losing Home is an emotional and thought-provoking novel about social media influence, immigration dreams, family separation, obsession, regret, and the high cost of abandoning reality for fantasy. It is a story that will stay with readers long after the final page.

If you enjoy contemporary women's fiction, family dramas, immigration stories, and emotionally powerful literary fiction, then, this is a novel you will not forget.
